Rec
Center Access Frequently Asked Questions Back
to Using the Card: Rec Center Access Why
the new program? The new program was implemented to integrate Rec Center
door access privileges with the new PolyCard program. Using the PolyCard will
ensure that only currently enrolled students and bonafide Rec Center members will
be able to get into the Rec Center. How
does it work? Simply swipe your PolyCard in the card reader on the turnstile.
The system checks if you are a valid Rec Center user, then unlocks the turnstile
to let you in. What
do I need to do? In order to use the new system, your PolyCard (campus
ID) must be properly activated for the new system. If for some reason your card
is not working because is has been damaged, demagnetized or needs encoding, you
will need to visit Customer Service at the Light House Atrium, Building 19. Getting
your card activated is free and only takes a few moments. What
is a PolyCard? A PolyCard (formerly One Card) is a valid student, faculty
or staff Campus ID card properly encoded with identifying information to allow
the cardholder to use or access specific services on campus. What
if I forget my card? You may be admitted one time per month if you forget
your card. What
does encoded mean? Encoded means that the magnetic strip on your PolyCard
has been embedded with information on certain tracts to identify you as the authorized
user of that particular card. If you have, or have had, a Meal Plan or Campus
Express Club, your card should work fine. If your card is not encoded, bring it
to the Customer Service office. Can
I use my PolyCard (Campus ID) for more things? Yes. See Using
the Card and the Campus
Express Club web page. What
if I don't have a PolyCard (Campus ID)? See How
to Obtain. What
if my PolyCard (Campus ID) doesn't work? Your PolyCard should work if
it is properly encoded. It should be encoded with your identifying information
if you have, or have had, Campus Express Club or a Meal Plan, or have used the
new laser printing service in computer labs. If for some reason your card is not
working because is has been damaged, demagnetized or needs encoding, you will
need to visit Customer Service
at the Light House Atrium, Building 19. Getting your card activated is free and
only takes a few moments. What
are the PolyCard Customer Service hours? See the homepage
for hours and location. What
if my PolyCard (Campus ID) is lost or stolen? You should report a lost
or stolen PolyCard immediately by calling 756-5939 or 756-2614. Your card will
be deactivated immediately. Until you call to deactivate your account, you will
be responsible for the charges. See Replacing
IDs for information on obtaining a replacement PolyCard. What
if I let someone else use my card? You are not permitted to let someone
else use your card. Doing so can result in having your Rec Center access privileges
suspended. If someone has used your card without your permission, call 756-5939
or 756-2614 to report the incident. What
if I find someone's PolyCard? You should return lost cards to Customer
Service at the Light House Atrium (Building 19). When
swiping my PolyCard, is personal data transmitted through the campus network in
a secure manner? Yes. The data is encrypted. No account balance is transmitted.
